If you haven't seen this, you should.
For some reason I keep running across elephants a lot lately---a tiny rosewood elephant on my stepmother's shelf, rediscovery of this website, friends' references to them in blogs. and this one, on a bench in my father's yard.

When I was little I would go see my aunt who used to collect elephants. She had all types. She did tell me that they were good luck only if their trunks were up, not down. Not sure why, I just remember her telling me that. She only collected ones with their trunks up!
Symbolically they represent ed wisdom, moderation, eternity and pity in the Middle Ages.
They also represent strength and libido in some traditions!
Any of these speak to you Laura?? Wise woman?!
:)
Smile. Thank you, Aley. I haven't forgotten those David Bottoms poems either. also if you're looking for animal poems, DH Lawrence has a bunch…I especially love The Snake.
My favorite elephant is a tiny glass one that Joan, my stepmom, gave me years ago. Moderation and wisdom—very cool!
My mother had a few elephants here and there in her home. Yesterday I was digging around in a box that I had in the garage and I came across this cute little pachyderm that I used to keep on my desk at work. I think I'll go get it and put it next to this computer.
Laura … look for the symbolism. There must be a message here for you if you keep seeing this over and over.
What's your Higher Self trying to tell you?
I'll give it some thought. patience comes to mind, though I am almost loathe to say it.
The ashes and snow site is amazing. it has animation now. It's really wild.
